Mother’s Day
It’s that time of year again… when we are present with our mums and stop to reflect on all things that make our mums great and remember everything they have done for us.
It’s particularly poignant for me this year as my mum has just been diagnosed with Dementia. It’s been a rough road over the past months, although I have to say there are some wonderful things that have come out of it.
William Shakespeare said, “sweet are the fruits of adversity” and this is a good example of it!
I have spent more quality time with my mum over the past 4 months than I have in all of my adult life… after always prioritising work and building my brand over family time.
Although my mum has the first signs of this horrible disease, I have taken her under my wing and we have shared lots of laughs, tears and memories. We have spent hours in the veggie garden at Essington park and lots of time in the kitchen of course, cooking and preserving the fruits from our orchard…
I have relished every moment… It’s been very special indeed.
So this Mother’s Day I’m making a special effort for my mum and all your mums too.
Special Mother’s Day Cake Offer…
My favourite cake is my Victoria sponge, so I’m offering a special Mother’s Day discount of 20% off, available on my online store for the whole month of May. It’s available in 4 different sizes depending on how many people will be around your table on the day. Portion size recommendations are available on my website.
This opulent cake has three layers of a very buttery vanilla sponge layered with my home made strawberry jam and slices of beautiful plump strawberries.
It’s so delicious, cuts superbly and will last for a good few days for future visits. I suggest you adorn it with more berries and pretty little white flowers as a garnish.
